A big thanks to Angelo who just alerted us to the fact that the Australia version of the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 is now receiving Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

We’ve reached out to ASUS Australia for an official word on the update, but assuming that everything is going smoothly all TF300s should be getting the update shortly!

If you’ve got an ASUS TF300 then head over the the Settings -> About -> Software Update -> Check Now section of your tab. And, well, enjoy!

The Asus Transformer Pad 300 is a lot of fun, to say the least. It’s one of those niche devices that is neither this nor that – in this case it’s not quite a laptop, but it’s not just a tablet either. Much like the relatively new phablet (phone + tablet) scene. In this sense it’s a little limited by its very own design: it can’t be all that a laptop can be, although it most certainly can be a tablet. But if you want just a tablet, you can get the even newer and Jelly Bean-wielding Google Nexus 7 at a much cheaper price. So it really comes down to what you want from your device. However I think …

ASUS yesterday announced via its Facebook page that the Transformer Pad 300 (TF300) is now available! You can grab it from several Australian retailers, as seen here. The TF300 is ASUS’ budget-friendly Transformer Pad, yet it still runs on a quad-core Tegra 3 processor as well as having up to 15 hours of battery life on one charge and an HD screen.
