Motorola Australia confirms the original RAZR will receive Jelly Bean

RAZR

Motorola Australia made quite an interesting tweet earlier today. Motorola AU has let us know via Twitter that the original RAZR will be receiving the update to Android 4.1.x Jelly Bean, we just don’t know when. Here’s the Tweet in its entirety -

So, if you’ve got a Motorola RAZR, then you can feel safe that the update will eventually come. However, for the time-being you’ll have to get accustomed to ICS as we jut don’t know when to expect it.

The Motorola RAZR V is a great mid-range Ice Cream Sandwich device with raw carbon beauty from Motorola. The best thing about it, Mot0rola have mostly left it the hell alone. Join us as we go hands-on with the Motrola Razr V.

Motorola Australia confirms RAZR ICS update is rolling out

optus ics motorola razr

Motorola Australia has taken to Facebook today to confirm the update to Ice Cream Sandwich of the Motorola RAZR. It isn’t all too clear if this is the Optus or unlocked version, but we’d have to assume that the Optus variant is getting the update too.

We are excited to confirm that RAZR Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) is now available for Australian RAZR owners.
The upgrade will be pushed in batches over the next week. If you can’t wait that long you can manually pull down the upgrade by going to Settings About Phone System Updates.

So, what are you waiting for? Follow the instructions above and get yourself some ICS goodness! The update is rolling out in batches over …

Motorola launches the RAZR V in Australia, exclusive to Optus

motorola-razr-v-optus

Motorola have today announced that they will be launching the Motorola RAZR V, exclusively with Optus, starting on August 3rd (tomorrow). The phone is Motorola’s first device to launch with Android 4.0 ICS and has quite a nice set of specs too.

Oh, and it’s going ’round for a great price too. You can grab it from Optus (and aligned retailers) for $5 upfront on the $35 plan (over 24 months).

One of the major issues with the Motorola RAZR was the huge bezel, and this has apparently been rectified with the RAZR V. We’ve reached out for a review unit so we’ll let you know more when we get a hands on!

Optus Motorola RAZR receiving ICS update

OPTUSRAZRICS

We’ve heard word from a reader that the Optus branded Motorola RAZR (which we recently reviewed) is now receiving an OTA ICS update! For all of you who have been counting down to this day it is certainly time to be excited!

This has been a long time coming and the Motorola RAZR is one of the only high-end phones from 2011 yet to receive the update – until now that is!

We can’t be sure that the update is going for a full roll out just yet, so be sure to let us know if you get it in the comments below!

Thanks: @anokh

Motorola Australia are giving away a Motorola RAZR + ‘Work, Play & Drive’ kit

screenshot-20120713-141554

Just a quick one here. Motorola Australia are giving away one of the phones that we are currently reviewing for them. The RAZR is an incredibly thin phone with a kevlar backing making it extremely durable. It’s quite fast, however, it does feature late-2011 specifications.

The power pack is pretty much a pack of goodies to help you get the most out of your RAZR. It includes:

  • HD Multimedia Dock
  • Motorola Vehicle Navigation Dock
  • Motorola Wireless Keyboard
  • Motorola Wireless Mouse
  • HDMI cable
  • 18W Wall Charger

Nonetheless, Motorola Australia are actually giving away a RAZR, along with athe ‘Work, Play & Drive’ kit as we speak. They’re holding an online competition where you have to describe to them (in 25 …

Motorola RAZR ICS update not coming in Q2

For those fans...

Motorola has not been having a good day. After telling the public that the Xoom 3G and WiFi models will not be receiving ICS until Q3 (except for on Telstra), there has been more bad news. The Motorola RAZR (which I am currently reviewing), will not be receiving any ICS goodness soon. In fact, the Q2 release update has been pushed back and we are now looking at a Q3 update.

Once again, fans are not pleased on the Facebook status. In my opinion Motorla should be doing more to get the ICS update out ASAP to their Hero device of 2011, as well as the first ever Android tablet (the Motorola Xoom). Then again, we do all know of …

Motorola RAZR, Xoom, Xoom 2 Touted for Q2 & Q3 ICS Updates

Motorola have recently updated their Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update pages and there is some good news! Motorola have received some flak for their short update list, as well as making consumers wait for updates for their high-end phones and tablets.

However, the unknown is now over and the wait begins!

So if you own a Motorola RAZR or the original Xoom, you can expect the update any time between now and June (Q2).

For Xoom 2 & Xoom 2 Media Edition owners, expect the update to begin starting in July (Q3).

Our Top 5 Australian Androids

Just as they did a decade ago, Motorola has changed everything again with the new RAZR! The name does not mislead: this phone is razor thin, measuring in at just 7.1mm. Impressively, it still packs an incredibly high quality set of features under the hood. The screen, processor, camera, weight and (soon to be Android 4.0?) operating system are on or under par with top-of-the-line smartphones.

The RAZR features a KEVLAR® fibre back and a Corning ® Gorilla® Glass front to minimise scratches. To top it all off, the interior and exterior is covered with splash-guard coating to protect the interior of this beautiful phone!

The RAZR was released late 2011 exclusively to Optus. Although
