‘Sleek, Sophisticated & Affordable’

For the past week I have been using the LG Optimus L7 P705 as my main handset. When it comes to smartphones, let’s just say LG isn’t a brand that first comes to mind.

To be honest I haven’t used an LG phone since the LG KU990 was released several years ago. That’s why not so long ago I only associated LG with fridges, TV’s and Lady Gaga.  However LG’s new sub $300 phone has left me with a surprisingly sweet taste in my mouth.

LG has just sent out a press release that all of their new Optimus L Style Series phones will be updated with a software upgrade which will include QuickMemo. QuickMemo is LG’s application to allow you to quickly jot down some notes on any screenshot taken on the phone with is. It’s much like what we’ve seen on the Samsung Galaxy Note, but it appears to have a few goodies of its own.

But what is QuickMemo?

Simply put, QuickMemo is basically an extension to screenshots. It allows you to take down screenshots and annotate them accordingly. LG has stated in their press release:

Optus have made a status on Facebook stating that the LG Optimus L7 is receiving what seems to be quite an exciting update. It’s nothing too big but brings an update to LG’s QuickMemo, which allows you to annotate on screenshots quickly before sending them off. This is something that is definite very welcome, but it is in no means ground-breaking. Has anyone heard of Skitch?

LG Australia has today officially announced the launch of the LG L Series – L2, L3, L5 and L7 handsets down under. That includes the LG Optimus L7, Optimus L5, Optimus L3 and Optimus L2-Dual SIM.

Strangely, LG have completely disregarded all previous smartphones released and claimed that the L-Style series is their first. Is this an attempt to avoid the previous misfortune of LG’s smartphone offerings?
