Ouya Kickstarter project finishes its 30 day funding period with $8.6 million
It’s no secret that I’ve been excited for the $99 Android video game console, Ouya, since before day one of its successful Kickstarter campaign. And I’m not the only one. We here at Android Australia have supported the Kickstarter project financially too, ensuring that we’ll have a unit to review.
Early today the opportunity to fund Ouya on Kickstarter came to end, with OUYA receiving $8,596,178 in funding – $7,646,178 over their required amount of $950,000.
The device is expected to ship to backers in March-April 2013, as the team behind OUYA rush to get it ready and ensure the support and commitment of game developers worldwide. The response has been good, with companies like OnLive promising to deliver …
Kickstarter ‘Chameleon’ now entering beta for supporters
Did you support the KickStarter program Chameleon? If you own an Android tablet, then why the hell not? Chameleon looks to be a really great tablet launcher alternative that helps to make the whole experience nicer, cleaner and more intuitive.
The project on Kickstarter had to be cancelled midway through and replaced with a new page due to unforeseen circumstances. This led many to believe that Chameleon was in fact not a legitimate project. However, after having the project get back on its feet and fully funded in just one day, the Chameleon launcher is now entering its first open beta phase!
Well, ladies and gentlemen, this beautiful homescreen replacement is getting ever closer to becoming a reality …
OUYA, the $99 Android gaming console, now on Kickstarter
Last week we report on OUYA, the $99 Android gaming console that was being made to be completely hackable. Well, just a few hours ago, the OUYA dream become more of a reality.
The team behind it have actually already got a prototype ready, but now they actually need to produce it. Obviously this requires funding, and funding isn’t always so easy to get. Fortunately, group-funding sites like Kickstarter exist, and seem to be working well for the OUYA team. The project has been online for barely a day and has already had $290,000+ USD pledged towards its $950,000 goal.
As you’d expect with any Kickstarter project, there are rewards for your generosity. From $95 you could reserve an OUYA …
Chameleon for Android is back on Kickstarter, pledge funded!
Three cheers are in order!
A month ago we wrote on the Kickstarter project Chameleon. Simply put, it is a homescreen replacement for Android tablets. It provides a really intuitive and visually appealing take on what an Android tablet should be. After much success and reaching its $50,000 goal, the project hit an unfortunate snag and had to be taken down from Kickstarter. The devs then put it back up a few days later for the smaller goal of $30,000 – which has now been hit in just a few days!
The project has received much fame. I for one am a huge fan and am a backer of the old and new projects. Chameleon is expected to be ready …
Kickstarter project ‘Chameleon’ dumped due to unforeseen circumstances
Before we start this piece, don’t worry, if you’ve backed the project you will not be charged for your pledge amount.
The much anticipated Android tablet homescreen replacement, Chameleon, has in fact had its Kickstarter project cancelled. We recently wrote on the app as it looked to be a great and promising future addition to Android. However, as the title suggests the project has now been dumped and for quite a peculiar reason. Pledges were only accepted through Amazon payments, which were apparently linked to a member of the team. This same member has subsequently left the team and neither Amazon nor Kickstarter are able to transfer the ownership of the Amazon account to any other member. Here’s what …
Pebble is rocking (and rolling) into Android
Add this to your christmas wishlist — the Pebble watch has just been paired up with its first Android partner. For those of you who support the good work of those on Kickstarter, you may have seen a certain little watch pop up a couple months ago. The Pebble has since become the most supported project in Kickstarter’s history, attracting US$8million in pledges.
Five months before its release, Pebble has announced its partnership with RunKeeper, allowing the watch to natively display metrics from the app running on your smartphone. Users will be able to check their speeds, times and change songs all from their watch – no need to pull your phone out of your pocket or armband. Props also …
