Chameleon Launcher hits Google Play, finally
Well after running a very successful Kickstarter campaign, then cancelling that campaign, then starting another campaign, the tablet-centric launcher replacement Chameleon Launcher has finally launched on Google Play!
For those that haven’t been following the saga, Chameleon is a launcher that aims to completely rethink the Android tablet experience. It prominently features large widgets designed specifically for Chameleon launcher and are designed to give your tablet homescreen a unified look. The developers hope that third parties will expand on the range of widgets available, but currently the widgets offered are:
- Calendar

It also features a mini-app tray for those apps you find yourself using …
Kickstarter ‘Chameleon’ now entering beta for supporters
Did you support the KickStarter program Chameleon? If you own an Android tablet, then why the hell not? Chameleon looks to be a really great tablet launcher alternative that helps to make the whole experience nicer, cleaner and more intuitive.
The project on Kickstarter had to be cancelled midway through and replaced with a new page due to unforeseen circumstances. This led many to believe that Chameleon was in fact not a legitimate project. However, after having the project get back on its feet and fully funded in just one day, the Chameleon launcher is now entering its first open beta phase!
Well, ladies and gentlemen, this beautiful homescreen replacement is getting ever closer to becoming a reality …
Chameleon for Android is back on Kickstarter, pledge funded!
Three cheers are in order!
A month ago we wrote on the Kickstarter project Chameleon. Simply put, it is a homescreen replacement for Android tablets. It provides a really intuitive and visually appealing take on what an Android tablet should be. After much success and reaching its $50,000 goal, the project hit an unfortunate snag and had to be taken down from Kickstarter. The devs then put it back up a few days later for the smaller goal of $30,000 – which has now been hit in just a few days!
The project has received much fame. I for one am a huge fan and am a backer of the old and new projects. Chameleon is expected to be ready …
Kickstarter project ‘Chameleon’ dumped due to unforeseen circumstances
Before we start this piece, don’t worry, if you’ve backed the project you will not be charged for your pledge amount.
The much anticipated Android tablet homescreen replacement, Chameleon, has in fact had its Kickstarter project cancelled. We recently wrote on the app as it looked to be a great and promising future addition to Android. However, as the title suggests the project has now been dumped and for quite a peculiar reason. Pledges were only accepted through Amazon payments, which were apparently linked to a member of the team. This same member has subsequently left the team and neither Amazon nor Kickstarter are able to transfer the ownership of the Amazon account to any other member. Here’s what …
Chameleon Skin for Android – A fresh look for tablets
How do you feel about the standard Android layout on tablets? I may be the only one, but I am not the biggest fan. In my opinion, the Holo theme feels to ‘dark and daunting’ for what should be an inviting UI – and that’s where Chameleon comes in! Canadian developers, Teknision, really have a good idea of what users like and obviously have a great design team.
What Exactly is it?
Chameleon is, simply put, a new launcher for Android tablets. However, I have never seen anything quite this ‘beautiful,’ especially from a 3rd part dev! The UI provides a streamlined approach and has a great way of presenting usable, resizable and replaceable widgets. In a way, Chameleon takes …
