We just got quite a nice and friendly email from Kobo, the popular eReader manufacturer. Well, it turns that Kobo has stayed away from the general and gone for an Android-based eReader.
It is based on Android 4.0 and is running Kobo’s ‘Tapestry’ OS. It looks to be much like Amazon’s Kindle Fire, but with a little extra Android baked in. The notification panel and clock appear to be stock Android Ice Cream Sandwich, with a completely new skin on top. This is something very interesting and exciting that we have rarely seen in Australia. Amazon kept the Kindle Fire to the States and the Nexus 7 is the first real content based 7″ tablet in Australia.
