Google’s acquisition of Motorola Mobility is now complete

Just a few days ago China gave the thumbs up for Google’s acquisition of Motorola Mobility, with one major stipulation in place. This of course was that Android remain free for at least the next 5 years, which in China’s eyes, would stop Google from giving Motorola preferential treatment. Now two days later Google’s CEO, Larry Page, has announced that the deal is closed and Motorola Mobility is now officially a part of Google!

The $12.5 billion deal has included the current CEO, Sanjay Jha, stepping down to be replaced by long-time Googler Dennis Woodside. Google has also stated that they will build a ‘virtual firewall’ between themselves and Motorola to ensure that the two companies remain separate entities and …

Google Motorola acquisition approved by China with one major stipulation

After both the European Commission and the United States Justice Dept. approved Google’s acquisition of Motorola, it was left to China to make the final call. Due to the nature of bureaucracy and the ‘anti-competitiveness’ that China promotes, it took all-too-long for their approval. However, Chinese regulators have finally approved of the acquisition and we will now have a ‘Googlerola’ on our hands!
