MORE FROM Amazon
While it is still not available for sale in Australia, we felt as though the Kindle is a worthwhile mention. Amazon’s Kindle Fire was/is a truly ground-breaking device. It was the first Android tablet that sold in huge numbers and garnered a true cult following.
The Kindle Fire runs on Android 2.2, but is a heavily customised version. This is so much so that you can barely tell that the Fire is actually an Android device. Apps are sold through the Amazon App Store and the Kindle streams all kinds of media from Amazon’s huge media databases. The one thing that really holds the Fire back is its low spec range and somewhat glitchy performance. What does it do well? Its $200 price-tag!
