MORE FROM

The HTC Explorer is a lower-end Android device. It is a compact smartphone and has the standard features of a budget Android. But what does lift it above the rest is its tight design – with a weight of 108g, it’s a phone with the relieving quality of not having to weigh down your pocket.

I both love and hate this phone. It is small and lightweight and fits nicely in my pocket. The touch screen is reliable and the 2.5 ANdroid update is a fantastic OS.

It is also quite fast. It doesn’t match the speed of the high end devices (I got mine for $129) but I have had no speed issues whatsoever. It is able to operate all of the games and apps that I have been interested in downloading with ease and no lag issues.

The wifi and mobile internet also seem quite quick to my standards.

The only downfall that I have of this phone (and it is a big one) is that the internal memory is only 90MB. You can expand memory with micro SD card, but a lot of apps don’t seem to be able to run from the SD card. I am often getting low storage warnings and I can’t seem to take anything off other than the few apps I use regularly.

Basically I am mostly happy with the device, with the only downfall being the average internal memory. I look forward to when I am able to replace the phone, purely because of the storage issue.

HTC make a bloody good phone, and I would happily get another, as long as the storage is decent. However, for $129, I can’t really complain!
