The HTC Desire was very cutting edge upon its launch. Its major features were the 1GHz processor back on an Eclair shipping device, as well as the 768MB of RAM allowing a high level of multi-tasking. The other features – screen, storage and size – were all pretty much industry standard.
The Desire still does stand up to modern phones, but it really loses out in terms of battery life and screen size. Nowadays, all Android phones come with a much larger display, especially considering the announcement of HD resolutions for Ice Cream Sandwich models.
