ANZ Release Android version of goMoney App

unnamed

Finally, ANZ are joining basically every other major bank and releasing their flagship mobile app to Android.

In this case that app is goMoney, the app allows you to see your account balances (and scary spending trails) as well as the usual transferring of money functions. This includes access to all your saved ‘people to pay’ and B-pay is in there to make bill paying easier.

[This is a Community Blog post - you can Contribute too!]

Perhaps the most interesting feature is the pay-to-mobile feature, similar to the popular Kaching offered by CBA,. This allows you to send money to anyone with an email address or mobile number, no account numbers or BSBs necessary. I wasn’t even aware ANZ …

screenshot-20120816-110359

The Humble Bundle is back for a third time with 4 (or 5 if you pay over the average) great games on offer.

If you don’t know what the Humble Bundle is it’s a collection of indie games you can buy at any price you like – from 1c to $infinity. There are 4 games up for grabs in the ‘any price’ category but pay over the average price people are paying for the bundle (currently $6) and you’ll get an extra game thrown in. Not only that but all the games include a free digital soundtrack and desktop versions for PC, Mac and Linux – including Steam integration. Furthermore it’s not just the developers that benefit you can also …

XDA devs create OTA update center for custom ROMs

customrom

Editor’s Note: Wow, this will really improve the custom ROM ecosystem and allow more people to feel comfortable and safe with a non-’official’ OS.

In some news that should downright embarrass carriers around the world a team of devs over at XDA have developed an OTA (over-the-air) update center for developers of custom ROMs. It hooks into and pushes updates out to their users automatically, just like “real” updates from your carrier or Google, of course minus the waiting time.

This article was submitted to Android Australia as a community blog post. You can contribute too!

ROM devs simply have to register, upload your ROM and then using the API set about integrating with the system to have it automatically …

Optus Galaxy Nexus gets Android 4.0.4 – Finally!

galaxy-nexus436v-scaled

Some good news for Optus Galaxy Nexus owners today as Optus have finally pushed the 4.04 out to the Galaxy Nexus around the country! While this is great news, it can only be described as ‘finally.’ It’s been a long wait for Optus Galaxy Nexus owners with no news or sensible help giving about the updates. Take a look at this ‘help community’ post about the update, Things like this should just not be happening.

To make things worse, this update has quietly whispered out the gate without any news, blog posts or emails sent. Even the Optus Android update page still reports the latest version as 4.02. I for one only knew about the update this morning when …

Jelly Bean’s ‘Sound Search’ now unofficially available to all ICS devices

comsound

Thats right, the folks over at XDA have pulled Google’s latest search capability expanding widget out of Jelly Bean. They’ve tinkered with it to get it running on all ICS devices, rooted or not!

What is Sound Search?

Affectionately nick-named “Google Ears” by the Internet – Sound Search, put simply, finds the name and artist of the song currently playing. By listening to it for a few seconds and then (sort of, see below) gives you a convenient link straight to the Google Play Music store to buy it. Now, there are a couple of apps out there that do this already – SoundHound and Shazam – but of course they aren’t backed by Google’s search power, which …
