I’m all for an uncluttered desktop, so I am constantly on the lookout for apps that will allow me to open my apps quickly, without having to fiddle with searching through folders and screens. Google Now seemed to have some potential, but although it will find the nearest Pizza bar, it will not launch my mail, find a contact, or open an application. I have tried most of the so called ‘assistants’ but they are gimmicky, clumsy and have a less than 50% success.

My ultimate aim is to have no shortcuts or folders on the desktop and only a few widgets so I may instantly check mail, …
