OUYA on track for launch, will be rocking Jelly Bean
Do you remember the OUYA? It’s the first Android-based gaming console that reached an incredibly high figure on Kickstarter. Pretty much everyone in the Android world is looking for to this incredibly cheap gaming console as something that may revolutionise the gaming scene – or, create its own niche market for itself.
OUYA has today delivered a fairly large update to the progress of the first Android-powered gaming console. They went through quite a bit of information, touching on the state of the development of the OUYA and what they’re doing.
To provide you all with a bit of some piece of mind, it looks like they’re right on track to the get Ouya up and running shortly! The circuit board is quad-core and they have their first development run of the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) in the shop, which has had a size comparison with a can of Coke – good choice of beverage.

Lastly, the Ouya is ditching the older Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and now being developed with Android Jelly Bean. We’re not sure if this is 4.1 or 4.2, but the devs said “I’m happy to announce OUYA will run on Android Jelly Bean, the newest version of the Android operating system” in their blog post.
If you’ve ordered one of these yourself or are interested in grabbing one when they come to market then you can check out the rest of the details on their post.
Oh, and we ordered one so expect a review when the time comes!
