The Samsung Galaxy Note II has been or will released around the world shortly, but whether it will be taken up by Australian carriers remains skeptical. An official statement by Samsung Electronics Australia suggests it is a possibility -

Samsung Electronics Australia is pleased there is interest and excitement about the GALAXY Note II in Australia, but we are unable to make any announcements at this time.

Not much has changed since their announcement of the Galaxy Note II after IFA 2012, however.

As mentioned before, there have been rumours that Optus are testing the LTE version of the Galaxy Note II and likely to arrive in stores “in november”. If your contract is nearly up, then this may be the Christmas present you were looking for.

Despite all this, Kogan, Mobicity and other online retailers are already selling the 3G variants of the Galaxy Note II outright, for $649 and $699 respectively while Mobicity are taking pre-orders of the 4G variant for $829.
