The ASUS PadFone 2 gets a sneak peak

Padfone2

The ASUS PadFone was an incredibly innovative device that never really made much of a splash down under. It only launched a few months ago and ASUS is ready to announce their brand new ASUS PadFone 2 on October 16. We’ve seen the specs before on the back of the box, but we’ve just stumbled across a short clip that gives us a bit of an idea of how it will look.

  • Quad-core Snapdragon S4 chipset
  • LTE connectivity
  • 4.7″ Super IPS+ HD display
  • 2GB RAM
  • 13 megapixel rear-facing camera, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera
  • 2,140 mAh battery
  • 135 grams
  • 137.9 x 68.9 x 9.00 mm

The phone itself apparently looks very similar to the original, with a larger 4.7-inch (was 4.3-inch) display. It also docks into the tablet accessory in a different manner, which looks just a little better. The video also tells us that the PadFone 2 should get you through a full day on a single charge and up to 2-3 days when plugged into the tablet form. Feast your eyes on this -

That looks spectacular! I’ve always loved ASUS for their amazing builds, untainted take on Android and excellent update cycles. I’ve always thought if there was a company to pull me away from HTC for my phone purchases, it’d be if ASUS made a phone. Unfortunately, the Padphone 1 really didn’t hit the mark where it came to specs.

Here we have a device with great looks, great screen size and resolution, killer spec list…. I’m a little in love.
