Nexus 7: Thanks a million!

Nexus7url

Our favourite 7-inch tablet, Google’s Nexus 7, is encroaching on a nice “little” milestone.

Prior to today we hadn’t heard any official sales figures on the Nexus 7; apart from ASUS Australia advising us that every shipment to Australia was selling within 1-2 weeks, and estimations that Google had sold 1 million via Google Play.

Well today The Verge reported that the Nexus 7 has nearly reached one million sales within a single month!  Says ASUS Chief Financial Officer David Chang to the Wall Street Journal:

At the beginning, it was, for instance, 500K units a month, then maybe 600, 700K. This latest month, it was close to one million.

Making some assumptions and extrapolating David’s figures, if his figures were an indication of the sales trend from July through to October, that would translate to approximately 2.8 million sales so far.

With the announcement of the 32GB and SIM-ready versions (though the SIM-ready version has not yet been confirmed in Australia), the associated Nexus 7 price drop, and Christmas season approaching, we’re expecting this upward trend to rise – and why wouldn’t it?  Sure the iPad mini is on its way, but as you can see by our comparison sheet, the Nexus 7 still looks a winner.

Are you still looking to get a Nexus 7?  Or are you hanging out for the Nexus 10?

    Personally, i like larger screens -> 10″ :)

      I hate 10-inch screens nowadays! I can only really find myself using a 7-incher.

      I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – please make a Samsung Galaxy Note 7, this would be my perfect device.

        It’s Samsung! I have no doubt they will make a Note 7 (Most likely announced at MWC in Barcelona 2013) it would be the perfect size, I’m very hesitant about getting the Note 10.1 at the moment, I might just wait :)
