You can now search the content of your email attachments with Gmail

You’re either going to love or hate this. Google has just updated Gmail’s search and added one very interesting new feature.

Gmail search previously was only able to search for the title of an attachment or content from the email itself. If you’ve got an attachment with contents that you know of but are unsure of the title, then this is a very nice addition. This will make it a lot easier to find the threads you’re looking for.

If you’ve got DOC, PDF or PPT file attachments then Gmail will be able to sort through the insides and find what you’re looking for. If you test it now you may run into a few glitches as El Goog is still in the process of indexing all of these points.

I, for one, think this is a good idea. However, those of you who are conscious of big companies having access to your private data this may cause an issue. I haven’t read through Google’s privacy policy on the matter but if you’re cautious then it may be a good bet.

i like it should come in handy, i can see alot of people getting all uppity about this but really if you’ve got data “that” sensitive (you dont want a computer indexing it) it shouldn’t be in your email anyway and certainly not in a password free text doc lol
