Google’s October 29th Android event postponed

epsilon-wallpaper-android-army-960x800-630x288

And there we have it. Yesterday afternoon rumours started to swell that Google may cancel tomorrow’s event due to inclement conditions in the upper north-east US border – namely, near to NYC. As a result, hurricane Sandy has left us without an Android event, which Google has said will be postponed until further notice – here’s what Google had to say:

We are canceling our Monday morning event in New York due to Hurricane Sandy. We will let you know our plans as soon as we know more.

Never fear, though. We pretty much know all about the major announcements. We’re expecting Android 4.2, the Nexus 10, the Nexus 4 and perhaps the 32GB and 3G variants of the Nexus 7 to make an appearance.

There could be some more surprises up Google’s sleeve to be announced, though. We’ll keep you updated when we hear more on the matter.

There’s still the Windows Phone 8 event going on in San Fran tomorrow (Tuesday our time), so that’ll be interesting from a competitive standpoint.

Also, slightly off topic, if you want to follow what’s happening in NYC in broken Spanish, I highly recommend following @ElBloombito on Twitter. ;-)

Are there going to really be any surprises with WP8 event?

I think so. We’ve heard little to nothing about official pricing, availability and distribution, and the SDK’s still being kept from general developers so there’s a good chance they’re still hiding unannounced features.

Then – exciting! Can’t wait for it.

Safety concerns aside for those people who might be in danger… i wonder when google will do there annoucement and if it will even make a difference since they were probably going to ship in a week or two after…

A similar thing happened last year with Steve Jobs. I can’t 100% remember how long the delay was, but it was within about a week?

Bummer… Was really looking foreward to watch this….

though with all of the buzz about new software and hardware coming in major industry events, Google can hardly afford to delay the event any longer than is necessary for safety…

Yes, me either. Next Thursday or Friday are also fine. The point is there is still no rumours about the re-schedule date. I guess there maybe some days delays Google re-announce the new date. :-(
