Australian Motorola Xoom 2 now receiving Android 4.0 ICS

Have you got a Motorola Xoom 2 from Australia? Well, today is your lucky day! Motorola AU have tweeted this morning letting everyone know that all Australian versions of the Motorola Xoom 2 are now being updated to the creamy goodness of ICS! All WiFi and all 3G variants that is. I know it’s taken a while to actually have the update up and running but when a good thing comes the only response should be a happy one. Better late than never.

You know the drill. Head over to the Settings -> About -> Software Update -> Check Now. If your update is ready then it will prompt you to download ICS and start enjoying! We’re not sure how large the update is at the moment or if it’s occurring OTA, but we should have more news as it comes in. I’ve sent an email to Motorola Australia to find out more information for you all too.

Update: I emailed Motorola and it appears that the update will be staggered over the coming weeks:

The XOOM 2 ICS software is available now for all Australian WiFi and 3G users. There will be a phased roll-out over the next couple of weeks. However the software update can be accessed now by selecting Settings > About Tablet > System Updates on the XOOM 2.

As always, be sure to let us know if you get the update and how it goes in the comments below. Happy updating!

We’ve been hearing this all day! Are there many new features or is it mostly smoother and less laggy?
