3G-enabled Nexus 7 variant on the way?

asusnexus7

Well, we just got wind of something quite hot. It appears that ASUS may in fact be working on a 3G-enabled Nexus 7 tablet. It will feature no hardware changes from the standard Nexus 7, except for one major little tid-bit – the new Nexus 7 will have a 3G radio inside.

Take this with a pinch of salt as we currently don’t know the validity of this, but if we’re to go on past judgement then I’d trust Paul O’Brien from MoDaCo. He has stated that from a “very well placed tipster” he has news of the impending release on the 3G Nexus 7.

Asus is currently ramping production in preparation for launch in around 6 weeks, with the exact launch date and territories still to be confirmed.

Wow, this is exciting. We could be getting one of these in the next 6 weeks and enjoying the capabilities of the Nexus 7 on the run. There’s currently no word on a 4G LTE variant in the wild, but boy would that be nice.

Does the possibility of a 3G-enabled Nexus 7 make you want one just a bit more?

Thanks: Tim!
