We all knew this day was coming – and what a wonderful day it is! Google’s Hugo Barra has just announced via Google+ that there are now a total of 500 million total Android activations worldwide.

As Eric Schmidt took to the stage a couple weeks ago and announced the 480 millionth activation, we all knew this was just around the corner. Android now has 1.3 million daily activations too, which is in no means a number to laughed at.

Of these 500 million we know that approximately one quarter of them are running on ICS or Jelly Bean, meaning that we have about 125 million Android devices on post- 2011 software. Pretty good numbers if you ask me.

There’s a whole lot of celebratory wishes going on on Hugo’s Google+ post so I would suggest to check it out and join in the celebrations! Congratulations to the Google/Android team and all the OEMs involved!

Just remember, it’s not their Android – it’s our Android!
