[Update: Optus too?] Generic Samsung Galaxy S II (GT-I9100) receiving Android 4.0.4?

Update: If you got your Galaxy S II from a carrier in Australia then don’t expect to see this specific update. This is only for the generic unlocked variant of the Galaxy S II.

Update 2: We’ve heard reports that Optus users are receiving the update too!

It seems that this flew under our radar for a bit today. Thanks to a few of our readers, I’ve been alerted that their unlocked Galaxy S II handsets are now being updated to Android 4.0.4. The update should bring bug fixes, battery improvements and a few little menu changes here and there.

The update is reportedly coming out OTA (Over The Air). So, you know the drill. Head over to Menu -> Settings -> About -> Software Update -> Check Now. If it’s not there then go to Kies and check if the update is waiting for you quietly there.

We don’t know if this is a full-fledged update or just testing the waters, but a few of you out there have been lucky enough to receive it.

As always, be sure to let us know if you get the update and how it goes!

Thanks: Alex, Niall!

Well my generic GSII got the update earlier this morning and my mothers Optus branded got the update this evening when I arrived at her house.

I think this might be a rolling update, but it has somewhat made things a little more smoother in my view, but thats just from what I have noticed so far

My S2 got the update last night, I’m with Virgin. Update went pretty smoothly.
