Motorola’s $100 guarantee program is not coming to Australia
After Motorola announced their new line-up of RAZR phones yesterday, they also announced another little exciting announcement. No, it wasn’t that we’ve now got 22% of devices running ICS or Jelly Bean and it wasn’t that there’s now 1.3 million daily Android activations.
In the US (of course) Motorola will be giving anyone who has a Motorola device from 2011 or 2012 a special offer. If you’ve bought your device during that time period and it isn’t updated to Jelly Bean by the end of 2012 then you can get $100 back towards purchasing another Motorola device. Pretty nice, isn’t it?
However, as per usual, Australia isn’t going to be seeing such niceties any time soon. I reached out to Motorola Australia and this is what I heard back:
$100 guarantee program announced yesterday is specific to the US. However the commitment to providing timely upgrades for our devices is very important to us in Australia. We can confirm that the Australian versions of RAZR M and RAZR HD will be upgraded to Jellybean.
Well, that’s good news – Motorola is still dedicated to getting updates to us Australians. With the recent purchase of Motorola by Google it looks that they are beginning to stamp a print on the company. On Motorola’s ‘We <3 Android’ page you can see how much they are falling for Android. A little bit of Google there?
