Aldi selling the $249 9.7″ BAUHN tablet again

aldibauhn

Well, it looks like the BAUHN tablet is back! ALDI have updated their catalogue to include the $249 BAUHN tablet. While this tablet isn’t sporting the quad-core processor that you’ll see in the Nexus 7 or the Galaxy Note 10.1, it does have a fairly decent set of specs – especially for the price!

  • 1.5GHz Amlogic Cortex A9 Dual Core Processor
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • IPS 9.7″ 4:3, LCD panel display (1024 x 768 resolution)
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16 GB internal memory (expandable with micro SD memory card)
  • 0.3 front-facing, 2.0 megapixel rear-facing camera
  • up to 6 hours battery life
  • USB 2.0 Input and HDMI Output

If you’re looking for a tablet with a fairly large screen that has very decent specs and and a cheap price tag then this tablet is really for you. It also has the added accessibility of a USB 2.0 input and a HDMI output, making the Bauhn tablet quite a powerhouse for its price. Overall, it’s a toss-up between this and the Nexus 7 in my eyes. No, the BAUHN tablet doesn’t have a quad-core processor but it does have very decent/similar specifications otherwise. It has a bigger screen, added accessibility and is slightly on the cheaper side (by $50).

As a pioneer of 7-inch tablets, I’d probably choose the Nexus 7. However, the BAUHN tablet really does give it a run for it’s money.

The BAUHN tablet will go on sale this Saturday the 8th of September. You can head over to BAUHN’s official website to find out more.

Thanks: Alex!

Just bought one of these. youtube hasn’t been signed properly and can’t be upgraded. Have finally found a root that works on the device, deleted youtube.apk; re-boot; install youtube from market; factory reset; delete cache.
Youtube still won’t run. Force close all the time. If you try to report the fault, play store crashes as well.
Any ideas for a custom rom that will work with this thing would be massively appreciated. :D

I got this new tablet and have a problem connect to the hd tv by the provided hdmi cable. All the image and video stream well, but there is no sound. I wonder if anyone else there got the same problem and how to fix it. Is it something wrong with the hdmi cable, the hdmi port in the tablet or some setting?
Thanks for your suggestion and help.

I have one and can use my android phone which has a data plan as a Wirelsss Hotspot Tethering usin WPA2-PSK security and as such my phone becomes my 3G modem for my Bauhn tablet and i can use it anywhere.

My tablet was working well apart from the above mentioned YouTube problem. Yesterday I couldn’t get it to boot past the android hang screen. Have tried the soft reboot option then went into manual reboot and as a last resort I tried a factory reset but even this has failed. Any ideas or am I off to get my money back?

Do you know if I can use a cover with magnets in it? The specs say not to place near magnetic devices but this is purpose built for tablets
