Acer about to bring out a quad-core, 7″ Nexus 7 competitor with HDMI and microSD – the A110

ACER A110

Acer have just announced something very interesting and quite exciting if I might say so myself. Acer will be directly targetting the Nexus 7 and other cheaper Android tablets with their latest offering. That is, the A110. It comes toting a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, an HDMI port and a microSD slot for some expandable memory – things that the Nexus 7 is really missing out on.

There’s no word at all on an Australia release, or an international release at that. However, Acer have annoucned this tablet and it will be arriving in the future. The company has reportedly hinted in the past that they are looking towards sub-$200 tablets, so we could be seeing something incredibly cheap and powerful on the horizon.

Oh yeah, and did I mention that this thing is also touting Android 4.1 Jelly Bean?

You’ve got “an” HDMI. Given the frequency of this error I suspect it’s on purpose. At least be consistent and say “an” microSD.

      Punctuation troll….

        I don’t mind a little lesson in punctuation. :-)

“An HDMI” is correct. If you pronounce the letter h correctly as a soft “aich” instead of a hard “haich”, then “an aich-DMI” sounds absolutely correct.

This was announced back in August with Jelly Bean and someone even asked Acer about it on their Facebook page and they said it wasn’t going to be released here.

AndroidPolice had a fart on their twitter feed last night which put the post into their feed again, looks like Talk Android used that as a source.

Still looks like a damn good tablet though, maybe we can import it from Amazon or something, depending on the price.

Cheers for that pick-up. If this is going for the right price it is a prime device to be picked up by grey importers.

I didn’t see that slip-up by AP. If this comes out for under $200 it’ll be one of the only things to sway me away from the Nexus 7.
