Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich now on over 20% of devices

Astats

Well, the numbers are in again and it’s looking positive for the newer (kind of) versions of Android. It’s been around 9 months since Ice Cream Sandwich first launched and now 20% of all Android devices are finally running on it. To me, that is quite a good number.

Over the last month there has been a jump from around 16% of Androids on ICS to 20.9%, so many of our Gingerbread devices are finally getting some much needed creamy goodness.

Jelly Bean, on the other hand, has not been seeing much adoption thus far. After it was found to be powering 0.8% of devices last month, it has only made a 0.4% jump to 1.2%. This was to be expected as the only devices that are running Jelly Bean (officially) are the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S and Nexus 7. So, I guess around 1.2-2% of devices are of the Nexus variety.

Aside from this there haven’t been too many other notable changes month over month. Except of course the news that we heard this morning – Android is now powering 480 million devices worldwide with 1.3 million daily activations. That inevitable half a billion is on its way – stay tuned!

What OS version of Android are you running?

good to see ics pushing forward, its the turning point of the os, to me anyway, where its matured and can be handled by all, older versions of android are user friendly but they have nothing on ICS+, i can prove this with glowing reviews from on tech unsavvy individual, my mother lol

i wish the uptake of new versions was faster but we all know why it isnt and i wont go into there here lol

    ics 4.04 btw

I must say I do love ICS and Jelly Bean so it’s good to see the two approaching one quarter of all Android devices.
