ANZ Release Android version of goMoney App

unnamed

Finally, ANZ are joining basically every other major bank and releasing their flagship mobile app to Android.

In this case that app is goMoney, the app allows you to see your account balances (and scary spending trails) as well as the usual transferring of money functions. This includes access to all your saved ‘people to pay’ and B-pay is in there to make bill paying easier.

Perhaps the most interesting feature is the pay-to-mobile feature, similar to the popular Kaching offered by CBA,. This allows you to send money to anyone with an email address or mobile number, no account numbers or BSBs necessary. I wasn’t even aware ANZ had this at all (may want to bump the advertising up on that one ANZ)! Anyway it’s in the app – I’m yet to test how it works however.

Mini-Review

I’ve been waiting for a real (not a bookmark) ANZ app for ages, so I installed it straight away. After some initial setup that includes an SMS activation code and a pin setup on the app, I can say this is app is great! It looks fantastic and the interface for seeing account balances and spending history is actually far superior to the online version. The ‘pay anyone’ interface is again beautiful and more importantly functional and easy to use, i havent tried the pay-by-mobile yet but it seems to be on par with the rest of the app.

But, perhaps, the best part is the speed. The app is protected by the pin you create during setup, so no inputing long account numbers and passwords just to see your balance. As quickly as your device can open the app and you can enter a pin, your balance is displayed almost instantly!

Editor’s Note: If you’re interesting in grabbing the app then head on over to Google Play for download.

A mate and I tested the pay-to-mobile feature last night. I didn’t have the app installed initially, so went through the web interface and it all worked a treat. Then I installed the app and transferred him back his 1c. Seemed to work swimmingly! I can see myself using this a fair bit more now.
