Sony sheds some light on Jelly Bean updates, doesn’t say much

SonyJB

Sony has taken to their blog to correct the work of one of their spokespersons. The Japanese company apparently gave out word that certain 2011 and 2012 devices from the Xperia line would in fact be receiving Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Oh, and there’s a little bit on the ICS roll-out too. The Xperia P will in fact be lucky enough to receive Android 4.0. Here’s the full story from the official Sony Blog -

A quick note – during a Q&A session last week on our Sony Mobile GB Facebook page, a local spokesperson gave information out in error on our Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software development and rollout for 2011 Xperia smartphones.

We are actively investigating Android OS upgrades for all devices, but in the meantime, our Ice Cream Sandwich rollout for Xperia S and 2011 Xperia smartphones continues as planned.

As always, feel free to drop a question below and keep your eyes fixed on the blog, as we’ll be bringing you more on our Ice Cream Sandwich rollout for Xperia P and other 2012 Xperia smartphones over the next couple of weeks.

Well Sony, just another bit of mediocre update news from your end. If you ask me (or most members of the Android community), bringing out phones in 2012 that run on Gingerbread was never a good idea. As always, I really do hope that Sony can get these updates out sooner rather than later.
