LG Optimus L Series all receiving QuickMemo by September

LG has just sent out a press release that all of their new Optimus L Style Series phones will be updated with a software upgrade which will include QuickMemo. QuickMemo is LG’s application to allow you to quickly jot down some notes on any screenshot taken on the phone with is. It’s much like what we’ve seen on the Samsung Galaxy Note, but it appears to have a few goodies of its own.

But what is QuickMemo?

Simply put, QuickMemo is basically an extension to screenshots. It allows you to take down screenshots and annotate them accordingly. LG has stated in their press release:

QuickMemo™ is surprisingly simple to use. When users need to urgently write down a phone number or address while talking over the phone, QuickMemo™ can be instantly activated by simply pressing the dedicated softkey located in the notification bar or by pressing and holding down the volume up + down buttons at the same time. There is no need to operate a separate application to jot down something on the screen when QuickMemo™ is activated.

And when is it coming?

Well, as most of the L Style Series is still yet to launch in Australia we can’t get our hands on most of the updates just yet. However, for those who own an L7 the update is ready.

  • Optimus L7 is ready
  • Optimus L5 will include the QuickMemo update from launch on August 1st
  • Optimus L3 will have the upgrade ready in Septemer
  • Optimus L2 will have the upgrade ready in Septemer

So, if you’ve got an Optimus L7 (the others are yet to be released) then hit the menu button on the homescreen and open the software update application. Alternatively, you can go the traditional Menu -> Settings -> Software Update route. Check for an update and then start receiving it OTA (Over The Air) and you’re done and ready to enjoy QuickMemo!
