LG makes the Optimus G official, probably launch in Australia early 2013

LG-Optimus-G

LG has gone ahead and made the well-documented Optimus G official and boy does this thing have some amazing specifications. It has a set powerhouse parts under the hood, which look like they took directly from the future Galaxy S IIII, maybe.

Here’s the full list of specifications that we have our hands on:

  • 4.7″ True HD IPS+ display
  • Qualcomm quad-core S4 Pro processor
  • integrated LTE
  • 13MP camera
  • 2GB of RAM

Well, this is the kind of thing I was expecting from LG – a powerhouse device that I could fall in love with. The screen is the optimum (in my opinion) 4.7-inch display with some really cutting edge technology. While there is a 13 megapixel camera we won’t know if the extra MPs actually have a benefit on the camera. 2GB of RAM is always a welcomed addition too.

We’ve been hearing from LG Australia that they don’t have any plans to release any new phones this year in Australia, but there is something coming early next year. As this phone is expected to launch around the world just before the Christmas rush we can probably expect it in Australia in early 2013, or if we’re lucky, just before Christmas.

But, does this look like an iPhone to anyone else?

It does, in a square with rounded edge’s way, u know what i mean? but seriously apple, no one is stupid enough to buy this phone thinking it’s an iPhone, and as i said, thank god apple didn’t ‘invent’ the car, otherwise we will be having cars with square wheels to avoid patent issues.

Doesn’t look like an iPhone to me. Interesting, especially spec-wise, but I now refuse to buy any phone without a hardware camera shutter button.

Just read on pulse that the LG Optimus G will have a 2100mah battery and will ship with 4.0.

If the G arrives in Australia in early 2013 and launches without Jelly Bean it will not succeed. No matter how good the specs are I don’t think it is viable for a company to release devices with year-old software – at least not for the tech heads to purchase.

too right and no amount of “x update coming soon after release” rubbish will make up for it either, something LG does often, anyone releasing a top tier phone spec wise should back it up with the latest OS or not bother

a sealed battery and no microSDcard-slot.

A complete deal-breaker for an otherwise interesting device.
Sorry LG, but I’ll pass on this one too. Bye.
