Samsung are on a roll over at Unpacked 2012. First the Note II and now Samsung announce the 16MP Galaxy Camera!

Of course the most exciting feature is the Galaxy Camera is as we would expect, Android powered. But rather than being an out and out Android device, the camera is simply powered by a modified-to-suit version of Touchwiz with Android. However, this is a Jelly Bean device. Yes, that’s right, Jelly Bean count 2-0 Samsung. Nice.

Specifically, the unit is an Android–powered, Galaxy-branded, 16MP point and shooter.

The device is of exceptional build quality and features a 4.8″ HD display on the rear with access to a raft of Android-powered apps such as Google+, Gmail, Instagram, Facebook, and more – so you can instantly share all those high quality food pics right across the globe, straight off the lense!

As far as a camera goes, the Galaxy Camera features as we said, a 16Mp sensor with a whopping 20X optical zoom with a 23mm wide-angle lens. This seems like the perfect candidate for those avid smartphone sutterbugs who are looking for more but still want that same smartphone-esque camera experience. Your shots are safe too, with an automatic cloud backup service.

The Galaxy Camera will ship in black, and a white version will also be available. There is no word yet on an official release date, but Samsung did say they would love to have it out for the coming holiday season – so get your orders in for Christmas now! I know I am!
