Sony announces cross-platform PlayStation gaming, new partner is ASUS

PlayStatio

It’s been a while since we’ve heard any news on the PlayStation Mobile scene. However, over at Gamescon there has been some more movement on this front.

Sony have announced that PlayStation Mobile will now be supported by your PSN ID, which is really quite cool. If you’ve got a PlayStation Vita you will most probably have purchased some games. Now, who wants to have to repurchase these games on your Android device? Well, with the new support you will be able to download these games to your PlayStation Mobile supported device for free. How good does that sound?

But, that’s not all. PlayStation Mobile has also managed to grab itself two new hardware partners. First up, the relatively unknown Wikipad has joined the ranks. However, the real story is that ASUS has also partnered up to ramp up its mobile gaming offerings. This now makes PlayStation Mobile available with four Android OEMs, being HTC, Sony, ASUS and Wikipad.

Onwards and upwards from here PlayStation Mobile. I for one can’t wait to see PlayStation Mobile become available on all Android devices and for all the old school games to become a norm once more.

So will I finally be able to play the games I’ve purchased on my Tablet S on my PS3 and vice-versa?

I believe so. I’m not sure of any time-frames for this but that looks to be the case.
