Images (screenshots & gift cards): Google Play Store gift cards coming soon?

The guys over at Android Police are at it again, reporting on the little bits of coding that no one else has the heart to find. Boy do I love them.

Google recently started pushing an update to the Google Play store and it didn’t aesthetically have anything too different from the previous version. However, the update was a hefty 300kb larger than the prior, leading AP to believe something was just a bit fishy. They dug into the coding, sifted through all the standard stuff and stumbled on some really interesting finds. Really interesting.

How long have we been waiting for gift cards on the Google Play store? I know I have. I want to give my friends birthday gift cards, my girl friend one and ones for father’s and mother’s day – heck, all I want to be giving to my friends are Google Play store gift cards. But, what’s the problem? We don’t have any!

The images above are taken from Android Police where users have reportedly hacked into the coding and taken screenshots of the pages to be. Looking good!

Well, it seems as though all of this may be changing shortly. In the last update to the GPlay store Google has introduced some very interesting little bits of code that suggest we may be seeing some changes. There are pieces of code referring to a wishlist and a ‘redeem’ page, which can really only mean one thing – a wishlist and something that can be redeemed! Gift card, anyone?

Things then heated up just a bit more and some images of the gift cards themselves popped up. They come in a $10 and $25 variety. There’s not much to say but to feast your eyes on the featured image above!

I’d seriously suggest going to the source link below and checking out the full story on Android Police. It’s a really interesting read and just shows how much these guys go behind the scenes and flesh out all the nitty gritty.

Get ready, it’s coming.
