Just a day after Telstra announced their plans to have a bigger and better 4G LTE network over the next year, they have released some other exciting news. The Big T took to Facebook to let us all know that they are ramping up their 4G LTE capable phones catalogue.

Here’s the Facebook post:

While we don’t know which phones Telstra are bringing out, it is safe to assume that we’ll be seeing a few Androids in there. One of the five is probably the next iPhone, 1-2 of the phones are probably Windows Phones and the rest will be Android. We already know that the 4G LTE Galaxy S III is coming to Australia, so we can probably cross that one off the list too.

I’m going to call it: of the 5 phones, one is the new iPhone with LTE, one is a WP8 Nokia Lumia, one is an HTC One refresh with LTE (probably a refresh of the X), one’s the Galaxy S3 4G, and one is a phablet, most likely the Galaxy Note II.

I will say this. NONE of these other 4G phones will come close to that of the HTC One XL.

Rumour has it one of them will be the iPhone 5……. but I’m not 100% sure myself. Based that Apple is going thinner device with a bigger screen, just doesn’t leave any juice left in the battery for LTE.

So that means 5 new android LTE devices for us maybe!?

Impossible – at least one’s guaranteed to be a Windows Phone (Nokia Lumia). As for the iPhone, given the die shrink to 32nm for Apple’s A5 SoC, and LG’s in-cell touch panel that’s supposed to use up 30% less power, I think it’s entirely plausible that the power envelope has enough room for an LTE chip (which has been making power savings of its own).

      I’m leaning towards:
      - iPhone 5
      - Nokia Lumia
      - Galaxy S III 4G
      - Nexus 4G
      - Galaxy Note II 4G
