JB Hi-Fi selling the reasonably spec’d ZTE Telstra Urbane for just $149
Update: I called up JB Hi-Fi to get the low-down on the processor in the Urbane. It turns out that they were hiding it for a reason. The Urbane runs on a 600 MHz single-core Snapdragon processor. No, it’s not the beast I was hoping for and no it’s not the 1GHz single-core that would get the job done. This processor is a bit on the slow side, but we wont know for sure until we get ourselves a hands-on.
ZTE have updated their page to say that this has a 1GHz processor. We’ll have to go by their and JB Hi-Fi’s word that the device does in fact have a 1GHz processor.
A big thanks to Alex D. for once again sending through a hot tip on a cheaper phone! His local JB Hi-Fi store is selling the ZTE Telstra Urbane on Telstra pre-paid for just $149. Read on to the specs below and you’ll see just why this is an incredibly low price. For $149, I doubt there is any other phone you could find for a price anywhere near this.
This phone is running ICS, has a 4″ screen and some really decent specs. You can check out ZTE’s official page for the phone here.

Specifications:
600 MHz1GHz single-core Snapdragon processor- 4″ (480×800) display
- Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
- Bluetooth 2
- 3 megapixel camera
- FM Radio
- ’2GB RAM expandable up to 32GB with microSD’
- 140 grams
- 120.5 x 63.6 x 10.8mm
- up to 200 hours standby battery life
The website seems to state that it has both 2GB and 2.5GB of RAM, which is absurdly high for such a device. I’d expect that they are referring to the internal memory and the RAM memory is actually different. However, if it is as it says and this phone does in fact have 2GB of RAM then I am buying one right this second.
If you are looking for a cheaper phone that has a whole lot of punch behind it then I’d definitely suggest jumping on this one. Run into your local JB Hi-Fi store and grab one of these before they realise how ridiculously cheap it is for the specs it is running on.
A big thanks for Alex for sending the tip in. Remember, if you ever stumble across anything we’d love to hear your tips through Twitter or via email – info(at)androidaustralia.com.au
Thanks: Alex!
