Telstra Galaxy Nexus receiving Android 4.0.4 update

GNEX

Well, Telstra really did take its time. While we’re always happy when a phone gets an update, we just can’t help but be slightly peeved about the slack update process. Telstra holds up the title of Australia’s largest and number 1 telco, but they just don’t seem to be working enough behind the scenes for Android updates.

Well anyway, down to the news. Telstra has begun rolling out the Android 4.0.4 update to the Galaxy Nexus. We were al hoping that this update would be for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean but it was quite obvious that Telstra wouldn’t be getting it out so quickly. Telstra’s update page says that they have approved the 4.0.4 update and that it was awaiting a roll-out by Samsung. We’ve heard a few reports that phones have begun receiving the update so we’re pretty sure that it has officially gone live.

If you haven’t received a notification then head to your settings, about device, software updates and have at it!

Be sure to let us know if the update has come to you!

lol to use a really un PC analogy, its like waiting for that one slow kid at a school carnival, finally he finished now we can start the next event

that event being jelly bean all 3 contenders are at the start line, the gun went off ages ago…no ones moved

Just installed the update. It took about 5 mins. All went smoothly and phone is up and running on 4.0.4. Some nice little touches around the OS.

Got the update this morning and all seems to be working well. OK, we had to wait but after working in IT for many years I learned the hard way not to jump into updates until they were thoroughly tested! Let someone else brick their phone.

trust me if there anything like optus they didn’t test jack, im getting crashes all the time since the update, which is disappointing because anyone who doesn’t know how to flash etc is going to be disappointed in the phone now :(

Well I looked at my phone around 1pm on Monday and it said “You have a new update, press to restart phone”. I’ve been waiting months for this update so eagerly pressed and watch the droid go through an update screen. All done it started up then halfway through the startup screen it rebooted. Now it just reboots over and over again after the google logo is displayed. Arrrrrrrgggggggg. Telstra want me to take it to Fonebiz to be reflashed! What an absolute pain.

I was so keen for the update, thinking we were getting Jellybean…Now all I have is a phone that glitches and freezes just trying to reply to a text message. Clearly this update wasn’t tested enough
