The Next Galaxy coming August 15th, probably not a phone

galaxy

Samsung America has sent a note out to various local Android agencies advising to “save the date” for August 15th 2012, for “the next Galaxy.” There were no further details given, which leaves us wondering what we are about to see.

We are fairly confident of an August 30th announcement of the Note II and we also know the original Galaxy Tab’s cousin, the Note 10.1 was pulled back in for some upgrades. So, what will it be?

The only hint lies in the fact that the invitation was sent from Samsung Electronics America, not Samsung Telecommunications America which usually handles the phone releases.

So, we are then expecting either a TV or a tablet. Seeing as though it would be highly unlikely to see a Galaxy TV, we are assuming this to be the Note 10.1

The larger Note variant was set for release earlier in the year but was pulled back in by Samsung to grow an extra two cores and gained a slot for the S-Pen to co-exist in harmony (as we have come to expect from Note devices).

The other rumours doing the mill are an entirely new Galaxy device for North America based on a redesigned and upgraded Galaxy S III.

Either way,  the next three weeks will surely bring new hints, so don’t go anywhere!

Let us know what you would like this to be in the comments. What would your ultimate Galaxy device include?

It will be a MASSIVE disappointment if it’s just a Galaxy S3 variant for the US market.

An upgraded S3 might be interesting, but for the S2 they just released a whole pile of phones for individual US carriers with mostly cosmetic changes.

If that’s what this is, most of the world will emit a giant, collaborative, 4-part harmonised, “meh”.
