Sony bumps up the NXT Series, officially announces the Xperia P and U in Australia

Sony Mobile has today officially announced two new additions their NXT Series of the Xperia line. The two culprits are the Xperia P and the Xperia U. These two phones will be joining the Xperia S and the Xperia Sola between mid-June and the 22nd of July – full release details are found below. The Xperia P will be available at Telstra, Dick Smith and Sony Retail Stores, while the Xperia U will be available at Crazy John’s and the same retail partners.

The Xperia P is for those of you looking for a mid-range phone, while the Xperia U is a really budget Xperia. The newest additions to the NXT Series feature 2011 hardware, with 2012 software. It is an interesting mix and we’ll have a full review up of these devices closer to the launch dates – stay tuned!

The Xperia U will be selling for as little as $289, making it a true budget device. This phone will surely eat into sales of other budget Android manufacturers such as Huawei. We’ll be posting again as each of these devices goes live!


 

Xperia P:
