Microsoft securing its place in the Patent War
On Monday, AOL announced that it will be selling over 800 patents to Microsoft for a whopping $1 Billion US. Microsoft is now the latest company to attempt to secure their spot in an all out war in gaining Intellectual Property rights, which up until now has been fuelled by Samsung, Google and Apple.
It appears that purchasing such lucrative patents is an attempt for all these large companies to secure their interests, and protect themselves from possible litigation.
However, this recent acquisition is surely more than just for the security of Microsoft. Is Microsoft attempting to expand the mobile coverage, into more brands? Or are they on the verge of revolutionising the telecommunications industry? Let us know your thoughts below.
